AI Existential Dread
Give me a show of hands….who is afraid of AI? Who has lost sleep over it?
There is a paradox in the way that people perceive AI. We agree it's the next big thing and we agree it's going to be disruptive and yet for some reason, we are excited by it and are looking forward to it!
We assume that technological innovation is always good and we assume that new technologies always create new jobs and disrupted employees can quickly reskill.
The truth is that history tells us a very different story. The history of technological innovation is that it is collectively good for your kids and your grandkids but for those in their prime working years or at the onset of their careers, it's disastrous.
Decades of wage stagnation
>30% reduction in lifetime earnings
Staggering unemployment
And that’s just for the individuals effected by the prior innovations….I personally think AI will be for the white collar worker more analogous to what the car did to the horse.
If you are one of the people that sees through the paradox and you are feeling a little scared, listen in to my talk below on AI existential dread and what we can actually do about it.
